Initially, the cottage felt cramped, with disjointed rooms in locations that affected how the owners moved and used their home.

Today, the cottage’s kitchen has been moved to adjoin the backyard, creating a welcoming indoor-outdoor entertaining area with multifold doors, connecting the kitchen prep area to the balcony. The custom island bench is moveable, fitted with lockable wheels, in order to use the space differently while entertaining guests.

In keeping with the existing design cues of the cottage, the materials selected to complete the project are moody and elegant, with dark cabinetry contrasting with marble countertops and finishes in the bathroom and kitchen. The home’s reinvented fireplace features honed, mint green marble on the mantle and hearth.
