Casual Urban Living: A Playful Inner West Terrace
This Inner West terrace renovation was driven by a desire to create a home that felt casual, urban and full of personality. For this young couple, the brief was clear — improve the layout, introduce more light and storage, and embrace colour to reflect their playful aesthetic.

A key move in the redesign was relocating the bathroom, allowing the kitchen and living areas to claim the rear of the home and flow directly onto the courtyard. This reconfiguration completely transformed the way the terrace is experienced, creating a much more open and connected ground floor with a natural transition to the outdoors.

The kitchen now forms the heart of the home. Soft green cabinetry introduces a fresh yet grounded tone, paired with warm timber detailing and brushed gold accents for balance and softness. The island bench, wrapped in fluted timber, doubles as both preparation space and dining area — a thoughtful solution perfectly suited to a two-person household. Sculptural pendant lighting above adds a playful, contemporary touch.

Natural light is enhanced through the simplified layout and lighter material palette, while custom joinery throughout ensures generous storage without compromising on style. Curved open shelving and integrated cabinetry add both function and visual warmth.

The bathrooms continue the home’s confident use of colour, with deep green and soft blush-toned tiles, timber vanities and brass fixtures creating spaces that feel layered and inviting rather than overly formal.

The result is a relaxed yet refined terrace — playful in its use of colour, thoughtful in its planning, and perfectly tailored to modern inner-city living.
