After excavating the lower level and making use of expansive, unused space underneath, it has been transformed into an incredibly functional two-storey family home.

In its previous layout, all of the living space, kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom were located upstairs, separated from the empty lower level by an exterior staircase. Today, the family enjoys a new open-plan living area located downstairs, featuring a coastal modern kitchen, living and dining space that flows out to the home’s sunny outdoor backyard. Upon entering the home, family members and guests are now greeted by a bright and expansive entryway and staircase to access this space downstairs.

When designing this home, the creative use of space was paramount. This led to some unique innovations, such as finding the perfect place for the laundry room, which is cleverly hidden behind the kitchen’s VJ panelled wall. In keeping with the sophisticated coastal feel of the existing home, white and navy custom cabinetry was selected to finish the living areas.
